The Chandler Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all misdemeanor and traffic offenses occurring within the city limits. Parking at the Municipal Court
The courthouse has covered parking in front. Although this can be a busy court as it services a large population, the parking lot is large and there should be no difficulties in finding a spot close to the courthouse entrance.
Municipal Court Entrance
After parking in one of the several covered spots in the parking lot, accessing the Court is easy. The court faces south and the doors are clearly marked and simple to navigate. Upon entry through the front doors, one will go through security which requires removal of a belt and all pocket contents.
Finding the Courtroom
Once past security, a person can find Court information on telescreens. It is advisable to always refer to a person’s ticket or summons to know the time and courtroom information and to arrive early. However, the telescreens provide information on court hearings for that day. The information includes the defendant’s name, case number, time of hearing and courtroom assigned. One will need to wait until called after checking in.
Initial Appearance/Arraignment or Pretrial Conference
It is important to know what hearing a person is attending, whether an initial appearance/arraignment or pre-trial conference. Unfortunately, a person may give up significant rights without legal representation at one of these hearings. It is important to know what to expect at either of these hearings.
